On the trail of the Gorges du Verdon

The source of the Verdon is close to the Col d'Allos high mountain pass, with the river then flowing into the Sainte-Croix lake.

Within the pre-Alpine rock, set back from the Var coast, between Castellane and Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, it hollowed out a unique site.

This canyon, the deepest in Europe, was moreover classified as a nature conservation area in 1990 and given the seal of approval “Grand Site de France” (thus indicating that is conserved and managed according to the principles of sustainable development).

Its depth fluctuates between 250 and 700 metres. Above these breathtakingly high cliffs that dominate the river, hiking trails punctuated with panoramic viewpoints, allow you to appreciate in its entirety, the splendour of the location, which may also be explored by canoe.
